Raum Schiff Erde 2011 - Artist in Transit

With the advent of powerful and tangible computers at the size of a mobile phone, creatives all over the world have started to use their in-between-time to create paintings, music and movies while commuting. they steady moments while in motion, thus defining a new form of urban mobile art. art created like that has made in into worldwide art shows and music channels so far. we will try and shed a light on this new way of creating in-between.

Jan Krutisch is a Rails Pro working for www.mindmatters.de in Hamburg. He's also one of the founders of the German Rails-Usergroup. In addition a sound generator and occasional photographer. Benjamin Rabes first digital painting was made back in the 80's on an Atari 600xl in ASCII-Code, when he was 15. Born in the earliest 70s, he painted a 4 piece superhero comic with the age of 12 and painted Escher-style murals in his rural hometown with 17. He went to study Maths&Physics at the Hamburg University with twenty and switched to graphic-design at the age of 24.

Benjamin Rabe went to work on corporate web projects, eg. for Procter&Gamble and was one of the first European interface-designer to work on a software-project based on agile methods in '98.
Freelancing since 2001 he embraced the web2.0-paradigm in 2006 when he became the lead-designer on www.qype.com´s startup team. But he alway kept leaning towards painting. Enter Brushes 2009 he began enjoying fingerpainting and started the blog fingerpainted.it – to embrace this new world. Benjamin lives in Hamburg and is co-founder of the IAMDA. He has been featured in several international art-shows and is co-organizer of the the international mobile art conference in New York.

Unter dem Titel „Raum Schiff Erde“ findet seit 2010 jährlich eine Hamburger Un-Konferenz für Digitales, Interaction-Design und Internet statt. Das Themenspektrum der Vorträge reichte dabei von digitaler Fingerkunst, der möglichen und unmöglichen Selbstdarstellung von Musikern in sozialen Netzwerken, über neue Ansätze des Internet-basierten Fernsehens (IPTV), bis hin zu Beispielen spielerischen Verhaltens von Menschen in Städten sowie ökonomischen und ökologischen Betrachtungen über unseren Planeten im digitalen Zeitalter.
